Murf Alternative: Pay Per Download Instead of a Studio Subscription
By GetMeAudio Team · · 4 min read
Murf is a well-known AI voiceover studio, so it is a fair comparison for anyone making narration for videos, courses and presentations. The short version: Murf's studio is sold as a subscription, while GetMeAudio charges only when you download a finished file. Which is better depends on how often you make voiceovers.
*Details below were checked on 20 September 2026 from Murf's own pricing page and API plans and limits page. Plans and prices change, so check both before you decide. We list only figures we could confirm on Murf's own help pages; for the current studio plan prices and limits, use the pricing page.*
How Murf charges
- Studio plans. Murf's studio has a free plan and paid Creator and Business plans, billed monthly or annually, plus custom Enterprise pricing. Paid plans include commercial rights. See the pricing page for today's prices and generation limits.
- API. Murf's API help page lists a free trial of 100,000 characters and a pay-as-you-go option at $0.03 per 1,000 characters (minimum $2 purchase). That is a developer product: you call it from code and build your own editing, music and export around it.
How GetMeAudio charges
There is no subscription. Drafting is free and unlimited, and you buy prepaid AudioMinutes that you spend only when you download a finished file: about $0.15 a minute for Standard voices and $0.25 a minute for Natural voices. Minutes stay valid for 12 months. A 10-minute narration is about $1.50 (Standard) or $2.50 (Natural).
Where Murf is the better choice
- You make voiceovers every week and want one workspace and a monthly allowance.
- You want a team workspace with sharing and collaboration on its higher plans.
- You are a developer who wants a plain per-character API rather than an editor.
