How the estimate works

The calculator counts the characters in your script and divides by a typical speaking rate for the language you pick, then adds any <break> pauses. Different languages are spoken at different rates per character, so English, Hindi and Chinese each use their own starting figure. It is an estimate: a real voice can run faster or slower, and a draft in the editor will tell you more closely.

Typical script lengths

  • A 30-second short-form video is roughly 75 spoken words in English at a normal pace.
  • A 60-second video is roughly 150 words.
  • A 5-minute narration is roughly 750 words.

These are rules of thumb for English. Use the reverse mode above to get a figure for your language and speaking speed.

What the audio costs

Downloads are billed per minute of audio from prepaid AudioMinutes, with no subscription: $0.15 per minute for Standard voices and $0.25 per minute for Natural voices. The cost shown by the calculator is the same arithmetic applied to your estimated length. Drafts and short previews are free, and re-downloading unchanged audio is not billed again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many words is a 60-second voiceover?

Roughly 150 words in English at a normal speaking pace. Use the target-length mode for other languages or a faster or slower pace.

How accurate is the estimate?

It is a good guide, not a measurement. Each voice has its own pace, so the exact length is only known once you hear it. A free draft or a short preview in the editor shows the real timing.

Does it count pauses?

Yes. Any <break time="1s"/> tag in your script is added to the total, up to the 10-minute maximum for a single pause.

Is the calculator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and is not billed.
